Jessie gets lost.

I hope you all have been having a great week.

It’s been a busy week for me. I was driving home from PA yesterday and it was a little foggy. When I drive, I have a tendency to not pay attention to things because I start thinking about stuff and forget that I’m driving.

I’ve been driving from VA to PA and back for almost three years now, and I know the way by heart. But yesterday as I was coming home, it was foggy and I was thinking about stuff and I knew I was almost home, just needed to turn off the state road I was on onto our unmarked one-lane road, but when I looked around, I didn’t recognize where I was.

Now, on the last leg of my trip to VA, there isn’t very good cell service because it’s through the mountains. There’s one part of the trip where the road is all S and U turns as it goes over a mountain. (That’s my hands-down favorite part of the drive. The road is like a roller coaster.)

I vaguely remembered going over the mountain, so I knew I was within thirty minutes of my house, but in the fog, nothing looked familiar.

So, I figured I’d get to where I needed to go eventually and went back to thinking about stuff.

The next thing I knew, I was looking at a sign that indicated there was a stop sign ahead and an option to turn right or left.

Well.

I knew I shouldn’t be stopping at any stop sign. Not on that road. So I kind of peered into the fog trying to see if I was still in Virginia or if I’d really lost myself. I also slowed down, because where was this stop sign, anyway? (Did I mention it was foggy?)

So, I see the stop sign, and at the same time, the fog breaks a bit and I see the corner restaurant that we eat at a good bit – the closest restaurant to our farm. I’d passed the turn off to our farm and driven FIVE miles farther on.

I had to turn around and go back five miles to get to my turn. I laughed, because, seriously, who misses the turn off to their house when they’re just minutes away from it and then doesn’t recognize a stretch of road that they travel several times each week?

I guess that’s me.

I’ll see you all bright and early tomorrow!

Hugs and love,

~Jessie❤️
